For over 20 years, the YMCA’s Home for the Holidays program has delivered meals to elderly and home bound people on Thanksgiving Day. This program is designed to supplement the Meals on Wheels program sponsored by the Council on Aging in both Jefferson and Orleans Parishes. Last year over 1,200 meals were cooked, packed, and delivered by volunteers. 
 
As the YMCA is a non-profit organization we fully rely on local businesses in our community for support. We can make a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for about $5 per plate.
 

 

 

 

2011's Home for the Holidays an incredible success!

 

In 2011 with the help of over 120 volunteer drivers, more than 20 volunteer cooks, and some 2,400 donated desserts,  the YMCA of Greater New Orleans was able to deliver 1,200 meals to 750 families!

We would like to thank you all for helping the YMCA to continue its mission of building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
