YMCA Day at the Capital

April 12, 2017

Louisiana alliance has an impactful “Y Day” at Capitol: Y Advocates in the Louisiana alliance had multiple successes at what both Louisiana State House and Senate formally proclaimed as "Y-Day in Louisiana" on April 12th. The two legislative bodies read the proclamations aloud, commending YMCA volunteers, members and staff for their dedication to families throughout the state.

The YMCA of Greater New Orleans has taught over 1,000 kids how to swim this summer. With the help of a grant, the WST St. Tammany YMCA gave free swimming lessons to 60 children on the North Shore. The Advocate covers the Y swim program here!

There is a list of basic life skills all parents instinctively know they must teach their children to keep them safe and healthy such as looking both ways before you cross the street, washing your hands with soap and water and eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables every day.
