Adult Sports (Basketball and Flag Football) Referees

Schedule -  Weekend's for Basketball and Flag Football

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Arrives 10 minutes prior to your first game
  • Look over the field/court to make sure everything is safe for the participants to play on.
  • Call the games fairly.  No favoritism!
  • Enforce sportsmanship and fairness along with competitiveness.
  • Be respectful to the coaches, participants and parents.
  • Make sure the games fun for the participants.
  • Before leaving, make sure that everything is put back properly and nothing is left out that should be put up.  Time watches and whistles are not yours to keep!  Please put them back where you got them!!! (Exceptions are if you provided your own).

 

 

After-School Group Leader

Job Type: Part-Time

Job Summary:  Responsible for the supervision, management and safety of children.  Responsible for directing activities and executing daily lesson plans.  The counselor will work with other staff toward providing a program to foster children’s social, physical, spiritual and mental growth.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm 

Principle Activities
  • assisting the site director or camp director in providing a quality curriculum that includes adult directed activities and center choices that takes into consideration the needs of each child and the goals and objectives of the YMCA
  • assume responsibility for the safety of the children at all times
  • implement daily/weekly/monthly lesson plans under the supervision of the site director or camp director
  • be responsible for daily record keeping and adherence to all requirements
  • be in charge if the site director is absent and asks you to do so
  • uphold the association’s child protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines and proper reporting procedures
  • manage the program’s resources responsibly
  • attend all staff meetings and in-service training as required by the YMCA and the Cabinet for Human Resources
  • directing and assisting the daily cleaning and maintenance of the space and/or facility
  • attend parent conferences if necessary
  • meet the individual needs of all children including but not limited to changing diapers/personal care
  • assist in the planning and implementation of parent-child activities
  • continue professional development through community involvement, reading and further education
  • assume any other duties as directed by your supervisor and the YMCA administration
  • establish and maintain positive relationships and open communication with other staff, parents, children and school administration and faculty

Director of Annual Giving

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Director of Annual Giving reports to the Vice President of Development.  The Director of Annual Giving is a key organizational ambassador focused on annual giving fundraising by setting overall direction and strategy for securing our philanthropic funds.  He/she will work with the Vice President of Development, Branch Staff, and volunteers to achieve maximum income growth from annual giving sources.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Direct the Association’s Annual Giving Campaign efforts.

  1. Maximize association capabilities and opportunities to further the mission of the YMCA of Central Kentucky through the annual giving campaign with contact via phone, mail, digital formats and in-person visits.
  2. Capitalize on the branches’ capabilities and resources to grow their annual campaigns – particularly revolving around staff, Board and membership giving.  Serve as a consultant to our constituents on fundraising best practices.
  3. Coordinate a donor-centered approach to cultivation and stewardship with a focus on annual giving donors with the intent of retaining and increasing their support of the YMCA.

Assist with the annual planning of the executive office’s fundraising initiatives with a focus on developing effective volunteer leadership, volunteer recruitment, donor retention, annual giving campaign growth within each of the various fundraising initiatives.

Lead the implementation and restructure the Association’s annual giving campaign plan and directly coordinate the Association campaign with assistance from the Vice President of Development.

  1. Create a plan for the annual campaign that includes branch goals, a strategic campaign calendar, volunteer recruitment tools, training programs, and campaign communication materials.  Will need to work with the marketing department on campaign materials as well as utilizing electronic components to boost campaign efforts.  Must incorporate email blasts and the use of social media.
  2. Recruit, train and utilize effective Association Campaign leadership for the annual support campaign to achieve the goals set for the campaign.

Work with management staff on board development, volunteer development, relationship building, annual campaign fundraising and short and long term planning for fundraising efforts. Coordinate and support training of staff and volunteers involved in the annual campaign efforts of the organization as a whole.

Monitor performance of all Association annual campaigns against goals and provide reports on the Association-wide annual campaign activities and results. Produce an annual report of each year’s campaign results with specific metrics for comparison between years and against internal and external standards for annual campaigns.

Maintain ongoing year-round relationships with donors and potential donors and help them fulfill their philanthropic goals through the YMCA.

Make personal visits to leadership annual donors, defined as donors who make gifts in the $500-$1,000 range.

Implement and execute fund raising events with the coordination of YMCA staff and volunteers.

Work with the branch committees to strengthen annual giving fundraising goals and results.

Ensure effective administration of gifts and maintenance of donor records. This includes following established procedures for maintaining database, acknowledging gifts, providing recognition to donors, and pledge reminders.

Work with the Vice President of Development and the Vice President of Marketing and Communications in the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies and tools that promote the Y’s mission and case for support including website and social media.  Keep track of analytics for the components utilized in the campaign.

Support the efforts of the CEO, Vice President of Development and Board members to cultivate major annual and planned gifts and to steward those donors.

Carry out other duties as assigned.

 

Lifeguard

Category: Aquatics
Location: West End Branch

Job Type: Seasonal

General Function:   Provides a sense of control over the entire pool area, including deck areas and locker rooms.  This will increase the safety of the pool for all members and their guest.  The lifeguard is the first source of emergency care in the event of an accident.  Time will be spent doing routine maintenance duties as assigned by the management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prevention of accidents both in the water and on the deck.
  • Provide rescue and emergency assistance in the event of an accident.
  • Maintain a sense of control over the entire pool area at all times.
  • Enforce pool rules and justly establish disciplinary actions.
  • Lock all doors prior to leaving the pool area unattended.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service training as set up by the aquatic director.
  • Maintenance duties when needed.  These duties include picking up litter on the deck, washing the pool deck nightly, surface skimming when needed, keeping the deck clear of all obstructions.
  • Wear staff uniform and name tag when on duty and appropriate. 
  • Have a whistle with you at all times.
  • Customer service.  Be friendly and able to answer general YMCA questions.
  • Work your scheduled times or find your own qualified substitute.
  • Fill out accident reports for any accident no matter how minor.

General Function:

 

The Program Director manages all aspects of assigned programs in accordance with the mission and purpose of the YMCA of Greater New Orleans. This individual is responsible for the initiation and implementation of new and traditional programs, the training and supervision of necessary staff, and the evaluation and modification of these initiatives. This person will further ensure that all YMCA standards are being met and/or exceeded in direct correlation with the strategic plan. This position works independently under general direction and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks.

Skills and Qualifications:

 

The Program Director is required to have the following skills and qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current certifications, as required by assigned programs/departments.
  • Previous management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit agency.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations, including volunteer development, supervision
    of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations,
    and program development.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives (see detailed list below).
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

  • Trains and schedules sports officials.

Aquatics

  • Purchases and maintains supplies for camp activities.
  • Purchases and distributes camp t-shirts.

Health & Wellness

  • Creates and schedules wellness classes.
  • Hires, trains and supervises assigned staff which may include coordinators, instructors and trainers.
  • Maintains equipment and facilities.
  • Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required.

Swim Lesson Instructor

General Function: Ensure that all programs are started and finished as scheduled. Performs program to best of ability to achieve obtainable goals set by YMCA of Central Kentucky. Provides a sense of control during scheduled programs.  This will increase the safety of the pool for all participants, members, and their guests.  The Swim Instructor will assist during emergency care in the event of an accident. Time will be spent preparing and organizing scheduled programs.  Time will be spent doing routine maintenance duties as assigned by the management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Membership service is everyone’s job! It is an attitude not a department.
  • Arrive 15 min. early to prepare for class and be available to parents.
  • Ensure that all programs are started and finished as scheduled.
  • Teach all programs by the YMCA of the USA guidelines.
  • Prevention of accidents both in the water and on the deck.
  • Provide rescue and emergency assistance in the event of an accident.
  • Maintain a sense of control and safety during scheduled programs.
  • Secure and maintain all equipment in good operating order including getting it out and storing it away properly.
  • Make sure that pool area being used for lessons is securely roped off to ensure safety and order of participants and members.
